Compromise Tis the season to heal wounds, to forgive and to forget. In that spirit, I would like to propose a final solution to the ongoing dispute over the pledge of allegiance.

As loyal readers will know, the religious zealots feel very threatened by the possibility of removing "under god" from the pledge. Similarly, the secularists feel that the language threatens the separation of church and state that allows their soulless existence.

So... in the spirit of coalition building, I propose the following amendment that should assure a popular majority in the polls.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, evolved under god, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. (where all is now expanded to include almost everyone, provided they have papers)"  ¶ 8:45 AM
